The Williamston Farm & Artisan Market is a special space dedicated to creating connections between the farmers and artisans in your community and consumer access to having fresh local food on your table and handmade artisan products in your home.
Besides striving for high standards of quality, convenience, accessibility and diversity, the Market also aims to be a comfortable and welcoming destination that reflects and preserves the agrarian roots of the local communities we serve.
It is a place where adults and children alike can get to know who grows the plants and animals that become our food, and feel comfortable asking questions of vendors they personally know and trust about how to select and prepare market produce and food products. It is also a place where both farmers and artisans can share their creativity in handcrafted products and beautiful seasonal plant, produce and floral arrangements.
In the end, actually visiting the Williamston Farm & Artisan Market is the only way to know how very special it is. The Market is open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. every Sunday from mid-May to mid-October and for a special post-season Holiday Market in December. Everyone is welcome! Averaging over 25 vendors per week, the Market features a wide variety of locally-grown vegetables, fruits, meats, flowers, locally produced cheeses, breads, other prepared foods, and artisan handcrafted products.
Buying is easy. The vendors accept cash, Market tokens(for all products), and food assistance tokens and coupons (for eligible food products). No cash or tokens on hand? The Market “BANK” processes credit and debit card purchases of Market tokens, as well as EBT/Bridge Card (SNAP), and Double-up Food Bucks token transactions. Starting in 2025 participating produce vendors will directly process electronic WIC and Senior Project produce purchases at their booths.
The “Seedlings and Sprouts” program offers children’s arts and crafts activities during the Market season.
The “Power of Produce” (POP) Club introduces children ages 4-8 to the Market, its vendors, and the many varieties of fruits and vegetables that ripen and come to Market from May to October. The enrolled children receive special tokens to make their own produce purchases from participating vendors.
Musicians perform in the Market from 10 a.m.-2:00 p.m., including folk, bluegrass, jazz, blues and anything in between!
When musicians are unable to perform, the Market will provide recorded music for your listening pleasure.
The Market is easily accessed. Located at the McCormick Park parking lot at the intersection of Putnam and High Streets, there is ample parking nearby. There are four parking lots within a city block of the Market. Two handicapped parking spaces are available within the Market lot. (Map)
The Market has generous walking and vendor viewing space for patrons within the Market. A wheelchair and carts are available for customers needing assistance for moving about the Market or for carrying purchases.
Leashed, socialized, and well-behaved dogs permitted.
The Market is close to retail shops and restaurants in downtown Williamston, as well as antique malls/shops.
The Market is adjacent to McCormick Park, a large grassy municipal park with paved walking paths, a multi-age children’s play area, a volleyball park, pickle ball court, restrooms, and picnic facilities.
Pollination Station
Sowing Growth is proud to offer the Williamston Farm & Artisan Market as a resource to community-based service organizations. One market booth/space is made available each week at no cost, for groups with a stated mission to enhance the community or to conduct educational outreach. For Rules, click Polination Station Rules.
POP Club for Kids
The Power of Produce (POP) Club provides a fun opportunity for children 4-8 years old to engage in the local food system through conversations directly with farmers, educational games, demonstrations, and exposure to new fruits and vegetables. In addition to participating in educational activities, POP Club kids receive tokens to spend at the Market, allowing them to make their own shopping decisions.
The POP Club is open the first 4 Sundays in August between 10:00 AM and 1:45 PM. It is expected that the adult-led lessons/activities will run approximately 15 minutes.
Senior POP Club
The PoP Plus is a program for senior citizens that takes place each Sunday in September at the Market. Seniors enroll for the first time at any of the September Sunday sessions and receive a free gift. Participants will come to the Senior PoP Club booth at the Market, where they will have the opportunity to watch a food demonstration/video featuring preparation of the recipe of the day using fresh produce available in the Market at that time. They will be given a recipe card, Senior POP Club money that can be used to purchase produce. Our goal is 80 Senior PoP Club participants for the September program.
