Activities and Programs
Seedlings and Sprouts is a children’s booth where they can enjoy making specially designed crafts. Past activities have included making vegetable prints, pumpkin painting, decorating paper-plate ladybugs, and chalk drawings, that have been selected to align with the Market’s theme of the day. Schedule of Activities
Power of Produce (POP) Club meets in the Market in the Month of August, when colorful produce abounds in the Market. This a nationally recognized program, adopted across the US that helps educate children about:
- The many types of fruits and vegetables are grown locally,
- Where they can be found in the Market,
- The benefits of eating produce,
AND encourages children to try produce that they have never eaten before.
Each Sunday in August, children attending POP Club receive two POP Club tokens to buy produce of their choice from participating Vendors.
Creation Station Art Booth is a space that will allow both young and old to engage in artistic expression. This booth is scheduled when artists are available to guide people in creating an art piece. Scott VanAllsburg is our resident artist in charge of the Creation Station, and he may invite other artists to host a session. Each week, the sessions will be different and engaging. At the end of the season, the artwork will be displayed and auctioned off to support the Market. If you would like to learn more about the Creation Station or wish to host an art session, contact the Market Manager at marketmanager@sowinggrowth.org.
Nature Discovery visits the Market once a month from May to October. Founded by wildlife biologist Jim McGraph, Nature Discovery is dedicated to enhancing awareness of Michigan’s diverse living resources through supervised, interactive live exhibits. Past interactive exhibits have featured Michigan frogs, giant silk moths, salmanders, turtles, and common snakes. Nature Discover Info 2025.

The Williamston Farm & Artisan Market continues to look for artists to donate their talents and time to perform.
WHY? To do what music does best, to build a sense of community, sharing, and a feel good vibe. What better combo can you find? You’ll be with kindred spirits who appreciate both good food and good music!
WHEN? Sundays from mid-May through mid-October, for one or both 2-hour time slots (10:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. and/or 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m.).
WHAT AND WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR? Solo performers or small groups (instrumental, vocal or a combination) to engage and entertain shoppers in the Market. We are open to diverse music genre, e.g., blues, jazz, pop, bluegrass, folk, country, etc., as long as the style works in an open air market and you and our family customers are having fun.
WHAT IS OUR COMMITMENT?
We will provide a prime, central location in the Market, promotion in the Williamston Farm & Artisan Market Newsletter and Facebook plus any other publicity or news story undertaken by the Market. Musicians and vocalists keep all tips (and proceeds from any product they sell).
If you are interested in volunteering to perform at the Market, please contact the Market Manager at marketmanager@sowinggrowth.org or call (517) 231-2124. You may also sign up to be part of our Market entertainment by signing up here.
