What Does the Market Manager Do?
To assist it in implementing its mission and vision, and carrying out its overall responsibility for operating the Williamston Farm & Artisan Market, the non-profit Sowing Growth engages the services of a Market Manager. The Market Manager assist market vendors in securing a booth space inside the Market and assists visitors in finding products that are available there. Among other duties, the Market Manager secures vendors and music entertainment, and coordinates with Sowing Growth in promoting and raising money for the Market.
Much of the oversight of the Market is completed by the Market Manager while supervising the operation each Market Sunday and prepares a weekly vendor site map, oversees volunteers who assist with set-up, and take-down/storage of Market equipment, maintains the Information Booth space, the placement of signage, ordering supplies, and keeping track of invenory. The Market Manager also administers nutrition assistance programs, and generally engages with vendors, volunteers and customers in a manner supportive of a positive Market experience for all.
Assist residents and customers with questions about vendors and processes. Issue market tokens to customers by using credit/debit and EBT/Bridge card system. Operate a cash register for the sales of beverages to residents, customers and vendors. Collect monies for booth rent from vendors. Balance all funds collected from booth rent and beverage sales. Balances all credit/debit and EBT/Bridge card transactions and reports to the Sowing Growth Board of Directors.
The Sowing Growth Board of Directors that operates the Williamston Farm & Artisan Market, is pleased to announce the selection of Michelle (Shelly) Greko as Market Manager, effective January 9, 2026.
Ms. Greko brings a wealth of experience in the farmers market sector, both as a vendor, and for the last eight years as the Assistant Market Manager at the Holt Farmer’s Market in Holt, Michigan. Additional work experience in customer and administrative services include a 24-year career with the City of Lansing in executive secretary/administrative assistant positions, and serving as an Administrative Assistant with the City of Mason. Ms. Greko earned her Associate Degree in Information Processing from Davenport University and completed additional information processing course work at Lansing Community College.
Shelly is a welcome addition to the Sowing Growth and Market family, and is immersing herself in preparing for the 2026 season, beginning on Sunday, May 10th which is Mother’s Day. She said, “I am excited to have been chosen as the Manager and am looking forward to moving the Williamston Farm & Artisan Market to the next level.”
